An architect’s home: a true example of designer décor in an authentic setting
Le Palais Bulles (“Bubble Palace”)
Designed by Hungarian architect Antti Lovag, this villa, located in Théoule-sur-Mer, was purchased by Pierre Cardin. The famous designer made it into an exhibition space for his collection of designer interior décor.
La Maison de Verre (“The Glass House”)
Designer Pierre Charreau built his famous “Glass House” between 1928 and 1932 in Paris’ 7th district. Invisible from the street, it has a glass façade, sliding screens and retractable stairs… The house seems to be entirely designed for movement and transformation!
The Mirrorcube
Swedish architects Bolle Tham and Martin Videgard designed a hotel room perched high in the trees. With mirrored exterior walls, the cabin reflects the wooded landscape around it and blends in naturally with its surroundings.
Domespace
Patrick Marsilli designed a house capable of rotating 360° to catch the sunlight all day long!
Fallingwater
What if you were given the opportunity to live over a waterfall? Well, that was American architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s crazy venture from 1936 to 1939 in Pennsylvania. A true icon of North American architecture, the American Institute of Architects even gave it an award for the “best all-time work of American architecture”!
Bosco Verticale (“Vertical Forest”)
Built in Milan in 2014, Bosco Verticale is a pair of residential towers designed by architect Stefano Boeri. A world first in terms of urban ecology, the particularity of these two towers is that they hold no less than 800 trees and nearly 15,000 highly diverse plants!
Vessel
Vessel is a new type of urban landmark. Located in the heart of New York’s Hudson Yards, this structure by Thomas Heatherwick was designed to captivate. It’s a 16-story circular building with over 2,500 steps and 80 landings that offer an extraordinary view of Manhattan!
Earth Houses
The earth houses designed by architect Peter Vetsch are meant to be in perfect harmony with their environment. Located far from civilization, all of the rooms in these houses are lit by natural light.
Hôtel des Horlogers
In Switzerland, a strange building will soon take shape in the Joux Valley. With its zigzagging skiable roofs, the future “Watchmakers’ Hotel” will blend in perfectly with its surroundings. Located at the top of a hill on Naoshima Island in Japan’s archipelago, architect Tadao Ando has designed a group of exceptional structures. He has managed to create a true symbiosis between the cement of the Benesse House – a hotel and museum - and the natural world around it.
